A watch on your wrist means much more, than you think, especially an Omega watch. An Omega watch means prestige, luxury and, definitely, the highest possible quality. The one who wears an Omega watch makes the best impressions on others, because there is no doubt that he or she is a serious person that values high quality and absolute preciseness.

History of Omega company began in 1842 when Louis Brandt began assembling of pocket watches. Parts of movements for these watches were supplied by local Swiss watch makers. During the whole winters Louis Brandt was assembling watches using benefits of winter daylight. In spring the watch maker sold his watches. Louis Brandt’s watches enjoyed stable demand and provided a life of ease for the watch maker up to his death in 1979.

The sons of Louis Brandt turned their father’s workshop into a watch factory. Now all the details and assembling of watches were performed in one factory. After 9 years their company Louis Brandt & Fills became the largest watch factory in Switzerland. In 1884 the Omega 19 line watch was developed. The watch had an incredible success and soon the brothers decided to rename the company. Thus the name Omega appeared.

In 1917 the company became the official supplier of British Royal Air Corps and USA army.

In 1932 Omega was chosen the official chronograph of Olympic games in Los Angeles. In connection with this the company began producing special instruments – stop watches and photo finish cameras. In 1956 at Olympic Games in Montreal Omega presented a timer with digital display for swimmers. A year later the company presented the famous Speedmaster and Seamaster chronographs that were destined to successful future.

In 1965 Omega Speedmaster watches together with watches by many other brands were bought by NASA to choose the official watch for manned space flights. The chosen models had to go through unprecedented tests. Only Omega watches withstood tests in null-gravity condition, being exposed to very powerful magnetic field and extreme temperatures. At July, 20 1969 Neil Armstrong became the first man on the Moon and his watch –the Omega Speedmaster became the first watch on the Moon. On the Moon the watch continued to show precise time.

In 1970 Speedmaster recorded the moment of Soyuz-Apollo coupling. In the same year the most accurate Swiss watches played a key role in abnormal situation with Apollo-13.

The astronauts managed to survive thanks to Omega chronograph that allowed to count the recovery time.

Seamaster watches were used during the Janus operation by three divers during a week at the depth of more than 250 m. At July, 25 1998 these watches were aboard the Nautilus submersible craft that dived to the depth of 4 400m. Participants of Cousteau exhibition also used the Seamaster.

History of Omega is an endless caravan of miraculous rescues, incredible inventions and remarkable events. During all its long history Omega has been producing watches that are justly considered to be perfect. The best.
