With Queen Mary I's Reform of 1789 the Order had the following Officers:

The Grand-Commander - The Prince of Brazil, Heir to the Throne;

The Marshal of the Order - One of the Grand-Crosses.

The Classes were divided into: Grand-Cross, Commander and Knight.

Cross of the Order on breast riband, Knight.

Cross of the Order pendant from the Sacred Heart of Jesus (instituted by Queen Mary I), used on a Sash or on a necklet, Grand-Cross, or on a necklet, Commander.

Star of the Order, Grand-Cross and Commander

1918-1962

 

Badge of the Order on a necklet, Grand-Officer and Commander (and also Officer and Knight on ceremonnial occasions)

Cross of the Order on breast riband, Officer and Knight

Star of the Order, Grand-Cross and Grand-Officer (gold) and Commander (silver)
